Self-Help work includes all home maintenance activities normally accomplished by a prudent home owner. Work of this nature is the responsibility of the Family Housing occupant. Its purpose is to allow the occupant to make minor improvements and repairs to their building and cut down on the amount of backlogged service orders at DPW. A kind of U-fix-it. This allows occupants to do work in their building themselves, thus improving the appearance of their home as well as the outside of the building. This program can also be used by troop units, barracks, offices, maintenance buildings, and all occupants of government quarters whether in government owned or leased housing. Occupants of private rental are authorized to use the program as well, however only certain items are authorized for their use.
To use this program you must attend a SELF-HELP Class. Classes are held every Tuesday from 1300-1400 hrs in the SHIP. Training Room. Advanced courses are available upon request. We are located at DPW, BLDG 252, Franz-Schubert-Str. 3 (north of Ledward Barracks across from the Mercedes Benz Dealer). The entrance is on the first floor in the center of Bldg. 252, facing the parking lot.
