Government-owned Housing Areas
Askren Manor is the largest and primary housing area with a total of 674 stairwell apartments for Enlisted E1 through E6 personnel. In addition 26 duplexes are available for key and essential personnel. Askren Manor is within walking distance of Ledward Barracks. Various community services are provided in Askren Manor, including the Elementary School, Commissary, School Age Services, and the Child Development Center.
Yorktown Village is the newest Army Family Housing area. 34 duplex structures are located in the Kessler Field area of Ledward Barracks. All duplexes are designated for Enlisted E1 through E6 personnel. Community services include the Schweinfurt Middle School and the Kessler Gym.
Schweinfurt Leased Housing
Leased government housing is managed the same as government owned housing. The buildings/apartments are categorized for Enlisted E1 through E6 personnel. Over 550 leased government housing units are located in 41 different sites, most within six-mile radius of post. These leased areas range in size from multi-unit complex to smaller 1-5 units scattered throughout Schweinfurt and surrounding area. City bus and school bus service is available to almost all of our leased housing areas.
