Self-Cleaning
Floor and Baseboards
Stains, as well as dirt sediments, shall be removed; floors shall be damp mopped including under furniture and equipment. Unless floors are newly refinished/replaced, PVC tile and wooden floors shall be polished (but NOT waxed) with an emulsion type polish that will not build-up or damage floor sealer (NO Mop & Glow). Floor wax shall be removed from baseboards; baseboards shall be cleaned to remove marks, but not waxed. In single and duplex houses where the basement floor surfaces are painted or finished, floors shall be damp mopped to remove spots and dirt, and floor drains shall be cleaned of residue.
Rugs and Carpets
Rugs and/or installed carpeting shall be vacuumed and shampooed. After cleaning, the rugs shall be dried, rolled up, and the floor shall be cleaned. After floor cleaning, the rugs shall be unrolled and placed in their original position.
Walls, Ceilings, and Woodwork
Cobwebs, dirt, crayon marks, food particles, grease, and other stains shall be removed from walls and ceilings to include sockets and switches, baseboards, shoe molding, wood trim and railings. If required, furniture and equipment may be moved.
Windows
The inside and outside surfaces of windows, and double windows including inside and outside surfaces of glass doors, window frames, and hardware, window sills and curtain rods shall be cleaned and free of spots, streaks or film.
Fly Screens
Fly screens and the space between window and screen shall be cleaned.
Shutters
Apartment shutters on the ground floor and shutters accessible from balconies shall be cleaned from both sides. Those on first floor and above which are inaccessible from balconies shall be cleaned from inside only.
Interior and Exterior Doors
Interior and exterior doors and frames shall be washed free of dirt and streaks on both sides. Door knobs, hinges and related hardware shall be cleaned.
Lighting Fixtures
All components, including incandescent bulbs and florescent light fixtures shall be cleaned of insects, dirt, lint, film, and streaks. Globes and lamp shades shall be removed, cleaned and replaces. Outside lighting fixtures on patios, porches, and garages are included.
Cabinets, Closets, Drawers, Room Dividers, and Shelves
All remaining shelf paper, tape, staples and tacks shall be removed. All surfaces shall be washed, cleaned, and left free of dirt and streaks.
Upholstered Furniture
Upholstered furniture shall be cleaned to remove lint, dust, spots and dirt. All upholstered surfaces shall be shampooed.
Beds, Bedsprings, Box Springs, Bed Frames, and Mattresses
Beds (bedsprings, box springs, bed frames, and mattresses) shall be cleaned to remove dirt, dust, and other loose matter.
Trash Cans
Trash cans shall be cleaned inside and outside with a disinfectant solution, and replaced in proper position after cleaning.
Car Ports, Garages, Patios, and Balconies
Carports and garages shall be cleaned to remove oil and grease. Terraces and patios in single houses and duplexes shall be pressure, cleaned to remove dirt and debris. Balconies shall be cleaned, including damp mopping, if necessary, to remove dried on soil. Balcony railings shall be wet wiped clean.
Radiators and Pipes
Radiators and pipes shall be dusted and washed, removing dirt sediments and stains. Exposed and insulated pipes in basements of duplex and single houses shall be dusted.
Entrances
Platforms and steps of entrances shall be swept and mopped. Carpet type entrance mats shall be cleaned. All soil, grit, and other foreign matter shall be removed (including under mats), cleaned and returned to normal location. All exterior lights and fixtures shall be cleaned.
Dishwashers
Dishwashers must be cleaned inside and outside, in particular the gaskets. Components that can be removed without use of tools shall be removed, cleaned and replaced.
Washers and Dryers
Washers and dryers shall be cleaned to remove dust, lint grease and other foreign matter. Components which can be removed without tools shall be removed, cleaned, and replaced.
Refrigerators
The refrigerators shall be disconnected and cleaned inside and outside to include door(s), sides, top, and area around coils in back. The drain pan, shelves, drawers, and trays shall be removed, cleaned, and replaced. Effort shall be placed on cleaning the door gaskets. Surfaces beneath, above, and behind the refrigerator shall be cleaned. Refrigerator shall be moved away from wall for cleaning. Doors shall be left open after cleaning with the electrical plug disconnected.
Ranges
Accessible areas that do not require the use of tools to gain access shall be cleaned inside and outside to remove grease, dust, food, tarnish, and streaks. Circuit breakers for electric ranges shall be turned off prior to cleaning as safety precaution. After cleaning, ranges must be completely dried before reconnecting power source. Oven cleaners shall not be used on exterior enamel or chrome surfaces. Ranges shall be moved for cleaning. Areas under, above, and behind the ranges as well as on either side, must be cleaned.
Kitchens, Bathrooms, Toilets, and Basement Plumbing Fixtures
All equipment pieces, such as bathtubs, washbasins, medicine cabinets, toilet bowls, showers, fixtures, drains, mirror shelves, towel rails, grab bars, soap dishes, kitchen sinks, and related hardware, as well as wall and floor tiles shall be cleaned of stains, lime and soap residue without the use of sharp edged tools. Surfaces shall be cleaned with a disinfectant solution. Special attention shall be given to the area under the rim of the commode. All equipment pieces and wall tiles shall be polished to a streak free shine. Floor drains shall be cleaned of all dirt.
Ventilator, Air Vent Flaps, and Range Hoods
Grease stains, and dirt sediments shall be completely removed inside and outside including cleaning of fan blades, fan motor and grill, fan case, and exhaust grill. This cleaning shall be to the maximum extent possible without the use of tools. Reusable filters shall be thoroughly cleaned.
Fireplaces
Any remaining ashes, dirt, and other loose foreign matter shall be removed from fireplaces. Fireplace equipment including but not limited to, grates, screens, shovel, pokers, tool racks, shall be cleaned to remove dust, dirt, and soot.
Basement/Utility Rooms
Basements/utility rooms in single, row and duplex houses shall be broom swept, damp mopped, and dusted to include all pipes, outlets, switches, and other surfaces. Utility fixtures, sinks, showers, tiles, floor drains, toilets, and window/frames shall be cleaned.
